This painting was created as a commission for an internationally known law firm in San Francisco. After being recommended by a friend to meet Tony Gemignani of Tony’s Pizza in North Beach, who was hosting several artists on his billboard, I was asked to select a piece that captured the essence of San Francisco. I’m delighted to have not only met Tony but to have my artwork celebrated in the city I love! The billboard is currently on view, located above Tony’s Pizza Napoletana at 1570 Stockton Street.
Prints of this image are now available for sale in my shop!

Part of the “Mona Lisa Project “ we have the beautiful Mona Takeuchi. I painted her with a background full of the Japanese alphabets. I began the portrait on top of the lettering. I used gold leaf to accent her kimono and bow. The drips share a melancholy feel of the past.

As I’ve lived in San Francisco over 35 years I realized how much I love this city! It was that awareness that lead me to create a collection of artwork in celebration of its many landmarks and communities.
